DuPont™ Corian®

About DuPont Corian

DuPont Corian has outstanding properties. In 1967, DuPont scientists discovered something beyond a typical polymer sheet as an alternative to laminate and granite… This rigid product, made from acrylic and natural materials, which they named Corian, could be colored and molded, resembled wood and plastic, but was extremely durable, non-porous, and easier to clean.

Four years later, DuPont’s solid surface material Corian was introduced at the Homebuilder International Builder Show in Houston, Texas, the largest annual housing construction trade event in the United States.

In the early years, Corian products were limited in variety. For home applications, there were kitchen countertops, bathroom countertops, and sinks & basins in white tones only. Everything was just white…

Since those years, DuPont has worked extensively. By adding textures and veining variety along with over 100 rich color shades, it has expanded beyond the monochrome concept.

Beyond this reinforced color line, Corian applications have become diverse. The homogeneous, stain-resistant, and scratch-resistant Corian material is now used in a wide range of areas that push the imagination, from building facades to furniture and jewelry products.

DuPont Corian is Durable

Since its market launch in 1967, DuPont Corian has proven itself as an extremely durable material that makes life easier. It does not delaminate and resists wear and tear from daily use. It is resistant to cuts and scratches from many impacts in high-traffic areas. Corian is a specially tested product for mechanical, thermal, electrical, and other surface properties.

DuPont Corian is Solid

Colors and textures remain consistent throughout the material and do not wear off. DuPont Corian is solid and does not delaminate.

It Offers a Wide Range of Colors

Corian offers an almost unlimited palette for working. You can create a solid base with a single color for your design, or try to achieve a striking harmony. Corian can also be used as a versatile complement with materials such as metal, wood, stone, and more.

Corian is Hygienic

DuPont Corian is a non-porous material. It is completely solid and manufactured so that seams are virtually invisible, making the surface hygienic. Corian surfaces prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi. Corian has been certified by an independent laboratory as a hygienic material according to the international standard DIN EN ISO 846.

Corian is Safe / Non-Toxic

DuPont Corian is a chemically inert and non-toxic material. It does not emit gases at normal room temperature. When burned, it primarily releases carbon oxides, and the smoke produced is very light in color and still does not contain halogenated harmful gases.

Corian is Thermoformable

DuPont Corian can be thermoformed at controlled temperatures using wood or metal molds to create 2D and 3D designs.

Corian Has Virtually Invisible Seams

Applications designed with DuPont Corian are limited only by your imagination. Corian surfaces offer almost unlimited design options and can be joined so that seams are virtually invisible. For example, long countertops can be produced in sections in workshops and assembled on-site.

To ensure Corian surfaces remain long-lasting and maintain their original appearance, Corian countertop maintenance is extremely important.
